LLAIN, Aberarth, Ceredigion 2015

Notes on LLAIN, Aberarth, Ceredigion 2015
Peasant longhouse, notable for the thatch and cob walls - apparently last thatched in 1938 between the wars - I am uncertain when this was last lived in. It's a lovely place, quiet and sheltered by trees... a pig shed has faired better but the house and barns are all tumbling.

By Barbara Cooper: My great-grandfather's family came from Llain. The last occupant was his cousin James James (known locally as Jim Llain). Jim was killed walking along the railway track from Aberaeron in 1958. We last visited Llain in 2006 when it still had a roof on. The roof was corrugated iron over thatch on the house and slate on the adjoining cowshed.
